Radierer Goethe

Während meines Werkstipendiums im Atelier Mondial in Berlin stiess ich in der Souvenirabteilung eines Buchladens zufällig auf einen Radiergummi, der das Portrait von Goethe darstellte. Zurück im Atelier entstand die Intervention «Radierung (Goethe)», in der das Portrait in Anlehnung an Tischbein und Andy Warhol aus dem Berliner Atelierboden herausradiert wurde oder anders gesehen, radiert sich Johann Wolfgang Goethe quasi selbst aus dem Boden.

An der Decke wurde ein Video-camera montiert, die die mehr als 2 Stündige Performanz aufzeichnete. Das Video wurde im Anschluss bearbeitet und die Geschwindigkeit extrem erhöht, so dass die schwarze Figur zu einem Wesen zwischen Tier und Mensch mutiert.

During my work scholarship at the Atelier Mondial in Berlin, I accidentally came across an eraser in the souvenir department of a bookstore that depicted a portrait of Goethe. Back in the studio, I created the intervention “Etching (Goethe)”, in which the portrait was erased from the floor of the Berlin studio in the style of Tischbein and Andy Warhol, or, seen from another angle, Johann Wolfgang Goethe virtually erases himself from the floor.

A video camera was mounted on the ceiling, which recorded the more than 2-hour performance. The video was then edited and the speed was extremely increased so that the black figure mutates into a being between animal and human.
